The Exotic is great
for those who love the look and personality of the Persian but
wouldn't like the daily grooming regime that they require. |
| Like the
Persian, the Exotic is a docile, gentle cat with a soft voice; they
are sweet-tempered pets who enjoy sitting on laps and the refined
comforts of home. |
| Not everyone
likes the extremely broad, flat face of the show Exotic, however.
Those who favour the traditional or doll face Persian, which has a
less flattened facial type than the extreme Persian, will like the
traditional Exotic. |
| Exotics tend
to be more active and lively than the placid Persian. They tend to be
a bit brighter too... |
|
Exotics are
playful and enjoy a good romp around the living room, particularly if
you are there to admire their antics or join in the fun. |
| Despite their
more active temperament, Exotics, like Persians, are loyal, sweet,
affectionate, they are agreeable, non-aggressive, and get along well
with other animals and children. |

Compared to the Persian, the Exotic is
easy to
groom, but still requires regular care and
"maintenance". Like the Persian, the Exotic possesses a rich, full
undercoat that can
develop mats...which left can cause
discomfort for any cat. |
| Plan on
giving the Exotic a comb each day and a good groom at least twice a
week...a bath once a month will be more than enough if the cat is kept
indoors. |
|
Reported health
concerns include breathing difficulties, eye tearing, malocclusions,
and birthing difficulties due to the head size and the foreshortened
face... Well-bred Exotic cats are no more prone to illness and
respiratory infections than other breeds. However, the large eyes do
mean that a certain amount of tearing is normal, and a daily face wash
is recommended. |
